Resilience: Imagine
Do you ever take the time to evaluate where you are today? I don’t mean your physical location. I mean all the other dimensions about yourself: emotionally, spiritually, relationally… How is the chaos of your day making you unable to hope or dream?
Imagine simplifying. Pare away the distractions to see some simple steps toward becoming the person you are created and called to be, no matter what your circumstances are.
Resilience: Explore
What are your strengths? Your hopes for the future? What can you do differently today to make it possible for tomorrow to be different? Where and why are you stuck? Have you ever taken the time to explore what makes you tick? Maybe your giftedness is not clear, or your passions are hidden under the mess of what needs to be done today. Maybe you have no idea what your purpose in life is… or should be. Exploring always turns up new insights, things not yet discovered. It requires a closer look at the details, mapping out the terrain, finding ways to overcome the obstacles. Exploring consequently deepens us, especially when the journey is tough. It also opens up possibilities and potential you might not have realized before, which positions you to live life with more purpose and greater integrity.
Resilience: Create
Learn to be intentional by addressing what is important rather than just the immediate. Make space to think, to breathe a moment, to gather your sense of direction. Consequently, you will find your balance and your footing. Whether we consider ourselves artistic or not, there is something deep within the human soul that loves creativity. Beauty, harmony, and the extraordinary moves us deeply. And in our own way, we can begin to morph the ordinary humdrum of life into an art form of grace, beauty, and purpose.
Create a new normal that flows with grace and truth, authenticity and integrity, purpose and direction. Create positive boundaries to keep that new normal strong and intact. Add depth and motion to the relationships around you.
As a result, you will be changing even if your circumstances don’t.
Resilience isn’t a passive bounce-back. It is the result of how you take what you’ve got to work with, no matter how insignificant it might seem, and make something of it.
